Seoul welcomes a new innovative and inspiring new club where wine and women are the key focus. The Europe-Korea Foundation (EKF) announces Wine & Women Korea, a new wine club made by and for women and are celebrating its inauguration on International Women's Day on March 8th, 2006. This new club will focus on wine and wine culture(s) from a new perspective as well as approach wine as a lifestyle. Note: Men are also welcome to join the club. The 'Wine around the World' event is organized in cooperation with a variety of embassies and will feature 8 to 10 winemaking countries around the world,.i.e. France, Germany, Canada, Hungary, South Africa, Argentina, Switzerland and many more. Special features include a champagne reception, a fantastic cabaret show and great lucky draw prizes to be won. Also, to celebrate International Women's Day, every woman will receive a gift! To mark the inauguration, there will also be a special membership offer for early registration for this event before Saturday, March 4, 2006. The concept of this club, developed by Mrs. Catherine Germier-Hamel and Ms. Nicole Risse, was initiated as recent studies show that wine consumption in Korea has enjoyed a constant growth over the past several years. Moreover, this phenomenon has mainly been driven by women as they are the ones choosing, purchasing and drinking the wine, more often so than men. Wine & Women Korea (WWK) will hold monthly 'Wine Focus' gatherings where a speaker, usually a wine sommelier or wine expert, will discuss different topics i.e. the effects of wine on health, jobs in the wine industry, wine tourism, etc. Every event will feature 6-8 wines for tasting, accompanied by a light dinner. There will also be several special events throughout the year, the first one being 'Wine around the World.' Annual Members of WWK will enjoy a variety of benefits, including, but not limited to, priority access and discounts on monthly wine tasting meetings, reduced entrance fee for 'Wine Focus' gatherings, periodic newsletter: Through the Grapevine, as well as discounts with our Affiliate Program members, i.e. restaurants, wine shops, and department stores. WWK is open for all women and men whom are interested in wine. It also serves as a great networking opportunity for its members. The club is non-profit and situated under the umbrella of EKF. All proceeds generated through the club will be donated to South Korean charity organizations supported by EKF.
