On February 6, the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) and the Ministry of Construction and Transportation (MOCT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the construction of "u-Cities." Through the signing of the MOU, the two ministries agreed to comprehensively cooperate with regard to the following objectives: the revamping of the legal system for the construction of "u-Cities", the development and certification of 'u- City' models, carrying out of trial projects for "u-Cities" construction, the selection and execution of "u-City" tasks, the exchanges of information and manpower, and the fostering of professional manpower related to "u-City" projects. In "The Policy Directives for the Year 2006" announced following the signing ceremony, MIC and MOCT stated that they will concentrate on enacting "The Law for Supporting "u-City" Construction" and developing "u-City" models.
