KDC Makes Inroads into Multimedia Terminal Project

Concludes strategic investment agreement with Digifriends To make inroads into the multimedia machinery and tools business such as DMB, a leading system, NI special group KDC (Korea Digital Communications: www.kdcgroup.co.kr) concluded an investment as well as strategic agreement with Digifriends (www.digifriends.net), which holds the core solutions.
KDC plans to invest a total of 1 billion won (about $1.03 million) in multimedia special firm Digifriends, according to officials of KDC responsible for this agreement. Along with this agreement, KDC comes to take full charge of the production regarding all multimedia machinery & tools whereas the two companies carry out operation and marketing jointly. Digifriends holding multimedia development technology as well as solution of the highest level in Korea, secures all sorts of patents amounting to around 100 items related to multimedia. This company has developed the first satellite DMB terminal in the world with its purely itself technology alone and concluded an export agreement to export a total of 100,000 units to Japanese companies in conjunction with satellite DMB exclusive use terminal two models. With larger companies at home and abroad, and multimedia machinery and tools business providers as their objects, it is said that Digifriends is involved in DMB as well as amultimedia - associated product ODM, OEM delivery of goods amounting to a total of 20 billion won scale (around $20.51 million), according to the company. With this agreement with Digifriends as an impetus, KDC said that the Group is planning to launch terminal PMP that adapts 3-D vertical panels, which can be utilized as terrestrial DMB too for the first time in the world. Navigation function as well as Embedded game converted to 3-D vertical will be basically loaded into this terminal and this product will be sold through home shopping with the KDC trademark in the course of third quarter this year. KDC said that the Group expects to gain revenue of around 20 billion won (about $20.51 million) through this strategic alliance. Besides, KDC which recently built a 3-D vertical panel's mass production line, a next-generation display, it is planning aggressive business inroads, including strategic investment and M&A, regarding this year's core business as display, multimedia and contents.
