Discussions about technology evolution on portable Internet (WiBro) are expected to begin in June at the earliest from the dimension of an international standardization organization.
Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) and Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) recently said that the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. (IEEE) plans to start discussions on the IEEE 802.20, called the mobile broadband wireless access (MBWA), in June this year under the recognition that the nextstep evolution for the mobile WiMAX is needed.
Accordingly, TTA and ETRI plan to push for domestic standardization for WiBro evolution first.
Based on the results of the system operation, they are planning to lead the international standardization at the IEEE in earnest, a TTA official said.
