SEOUL, KOREA – The sales of iPhone 5 are lagging behind expectations in the Korean market. The iPhone 5 has been sold about 400,000 units until January 4.

It has passed about a month after it launched sales by pre-orders on December 7. The iPhone 5 broke the level of 300,000 in pre-order sales in a single day after launch. The iPhone 5, however, has witnessed a mere 100,000 growth in sales thereafter.

Industry watchers had expected iPhone 5 demand to reach 1.5-2 million in late 2012. The sales trend of iPhone 5 plummeted from mid-December when official sales begun. Its year-end sales were lower than Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Note 2 which was released three months ago.

The average daily sales of the Galaxy Note 2 are estimated at 17,000 units, while those of iPhone 5 stands at a mere 10,000.
