SEOUL, KOREA – Attention is growing over whether Hyundai Motor will release a high-performance coupe-like sedan as a follow-up to its large sedan Genesis.
Hyundai Motor America plans to unveil an HCD-14 concept car that is included in the follow-up lineups of Genesis, at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show, scheduled to be held on January 14.
The HCD-14, which will become part of Genesis 2014 lineups, is a coupe-type sedan that looks like the Audi A7. The rear wheel drive-based premium sedan was designed by Hyundai Motor America’s North American Design Center located in California.
The HCD-14 will likely to be a high-performance sports sedan like the Porsche Panamera. A Hyundai Motor America official said, “The design of HCD-14 will give you a glimpse of the future direction of Hyundai Motor’s premium design concept.”

현대차 제네시스 세단 '쿠페형' 나온다
현대자동차가 대형 세단 제네시스의 후속으로 고성능 쿠페형 모델(사진)을 내놓을지 주목된다.
8일 현대차에 따르면 현대차 미국판매법인은 오는 14일 개막하는 '2013 디트로이트 모터쇼'에서 제네시스 후속 라인업에 포함되는 'HCD-14'(콘셉트카)를 공개할 예정이다.
2014년형 제네시스의 일원이 되는 'HCD-14' 양산차는 아우디 A7을 닮은 쿠페형 세단. 후륜구동 기반의 프리미엄 세단으로 미국 캘리포니아에 위치한 현대차 북미디자인센터에서 작업을 맡았다.
업계에선 포르쉐 파나메라와 같은 고성능 스포츠세단이 될 것으로 예상하고 있다. 현대차 미국법인은 "HCD-14 디자인은 미래 현대차 프리미엄 자동차 디자인을 엿볼 수 있을 것"이라고 설명했다.
