The Ministry of Information & Communication, Republic of Korea (MIC) agreed to pursue joint research in the IT new technology field with the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development).
This agreement, which was concluded on May 15 with OECD, is to strengthen analyses of latest IT technology trends, which are under way in advanced countries such as the United States and Japan, and to carry out 'IT New Technology Trend Research' with OECD.
This research is planning to analyze closely the present state of OECD countries' utilization, economic ripple effect, market outlook as well as government policy in conjunction with 5~6 latest IT technologies such as RFID, Grid computing, USN, home networking and DMB etc. that are emerging as the core technology for Ubiquitous as well as convergence service.
With this joint research, our country is assessed to be able to share each country's IT technology policy strategy about the present situation of latest IT technology in 30 advanced countries that OECD possesses, according to officials familiar with this joint research at MIC.
In addition, by utilizing OECD's accumulated research survey technique and experience, it is expected to be able to analyze about the present situation as well as outlook of our country's staple interest technology like DMB etc. MIC officials said that this joint research with OECD appears to serve as an opportunity to acquaint international society with Korea's phase as an IT power as our country's latest IT technology and policies are introduced.
Carried out by National Computerization Agency and OECD WPIE, this joint research is scheduled to be completed around December this year.
