SEOUL, KOREA - LG Electronics announced on January 22 that it will expand the scope of overseas promotion of its strategic smartphone Optimus GStarting from Singapore within this month, the company will release its Optimus G in 50 countries worldwide, including Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa within the first quarter of this year.
At present, the Optimus G is now selling in four countries, including Korea, Japan, the United States, and Canada. In just three months after launch, the Optimus G was sold more than 1 million units. Among LG smartphones, it achieved the 1-million sales mark in the shortest span of time.
An LG Electronics official said, “With innovative hardware and creative user experience, the Optimus G has already proven its global competitiveness. Based on its successful experience, the Optimus G will make bigger inroads into the global LTE smartphone market.”

LG 옵티머스G 글로벌 공략…50개국서 출시
LG전자는 전략 스마트폰 옵티머스G의 해외 출시를 확대한다고 22일 밝혔다. 이달 말 싱가포르를 시작으로 1분기 내 유럽, 중남미, 아시아, 중동, 아프리카 등 약 50개국에 제품을 출시할 예정이다.
현재 옵티머스G는 국내 시장을 비롯해 일본, 미국, 캐나다 등 4개국에서 판매되고 있다. 3개월 간 총 100만대가 넘게 팔려 LG전자 스마트폰 중에서는 최단 기간 밀리언셀러 반열에 올랐다.
박종석 MC사업본부장(부사장)은 "혁신적인 하드웨어와 독창적 사용자 경험(UX)으로 옵티머스G의 경쟁력을 이미 입증받았다"며 "성공체험을 바탕으로 세계 LTE 스마트폰 시장을 본격 공략할 것"이라고 말했다.
