SEOUL, KOREA - LG U+, Korea's No. 3 mobile telecom service provider, will expand further into the "smart building" business area after plunging into non-telecom businesses such as advertising, smart health, and connected car.
The company said on January 23 that it would launch a smart building hotel solution package that includes communications services (phone, Internet, switchboard), hotel only management program, guest room control solution, and smart parking control system.
With the solution package, hotel guests can adjust lighting and temperature of the rooms with their smartphone while flipping TV channels with the same device. When checking out, they can pay the remaining balance with their smartphone and get their baggage back without calling the front desk. It also comes with a parking solution that can connect the parking system with in-building communications system.
Hyun Jun-yong, executive responsible for infrastructure communications business with LG U+, said, "In order to shift our business focus away from mobile telecom and more toward smart businesses, LG U+ will keep introducing new solutions following U+ Smart Building Hotel Package such as solutions specialized in hospitals and schools."

LG유플러스, 스마트빌딩 호텔패키지 출시
LG유플러스가 호텔에 필요한 각종 통신 서비스와 솔루션을 묶은 ‘U+ 스마트빌딩 호텔패키지’ 상품을 23일 내놓았다.
LG유플러스는 이날 서울 밀레니엄힐튼호텔에서 사업설명회를 열고 스마트빌딩 사업을 본격화하기로 했다. 호텔패키지는 전화, 인터넷, 호텔용 교환기 등 통신 서비스와 호텔 전용 관리 프로그램, 객실 제어 솔루션, 스마트 주차관리 솔루션 등으로 구성됐다.
투숙객은 기존 객실열쇠 대신 스마트폰으로 객실 조명과 온도를 조절하고 TV채널도 돌릴 수 있다. 체크아웃 때 스마트폰을 이용해 객실료를 결제하고 원하는 장소와 시간에 맡겨놓은 짐을 찾을 수 있다. 호텔 관리자는 호텔 객실 온도 등 서비스 상태를 모니터링하고 긴급 상황 시 즉각 통보할 수 있다. 빌딩 내 주차장을 효율적으로 관리하는 클라우드 방식의 주차관리 솔루션도 제공한다.
LG유플러스는 호텔패키지 상품을 이용하면 따로 서비스를 이용하는 것보다 10% 이상 비용을 절감할 수 있다고 설명했다. 현준용 LG유플러스 기반통신사업담당 상무는 “앞으로 스마트 교육과 의료 서비스를 결합해 병원, 학교 등에 특화된 솔루션을 내놓을 계획”이라고 말했다.
