SEOUL, KOREA - It would be great to turn the car only in your imagination into a real one. Here is a good news for those who have much interest in and have a taste for car design. The Car Design Contest 2013 for College Students is set to be held, where young people can show off their creative ideas.
The "future automobiles"-themed contest is co-hosted by Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association(KAMA) and Korea Institute of Design Promotion(KIDP) and supported by the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy. There is no limit to the size and shape of design and the participants are allowed to submit any creative design.
Anyone who is a college student or graduate student can apply for the event and co-production by two participants is acceptable. Each participant is allowed to submit as many as three designs (including co-produced ones). If you are interested in the contest, you can apply by mail or visit Korea Institute of Design Promotion(KIDP) from Feb. 27 to 28.
There will be an awards ceremony where the participant who gets the most scores will be awarded three-million-won worth of prize and the Ministry Award of Knowledge and Economy. The selected works are due to be on display at Seoul Motor Show 2013 slated to be held as the biggest motor show in Korea history at KINTEX in Ilsan from March 29 til April 7. It will be a great opportunity for the winner to introduce his or her creation to about 1.2 million people visiting the show.
The Car Design Contest 2013, which was initiated in 1998 under the theme "City Commuter of the 2020's, marks the 10th anniversary of the opening. The number of participants in the contest is on the steady rise and the event has grown in status. The previous contest was participated in by 176 teams (204 participants), with college student Yoon Han-bin from "Art Center College of Design" winning the top spot.
