SEOUL, KOREA - Daesung Group will soon supply solar-powered irrigation and home solar power systems in 20 remote villages in Bangladesh. Daesung Energy, a Daesung Group company, said on January 28 that it held a completion ceremony for the solar power systems at Rajshahi, a city 300 kilometers northwest of the capital Dhaka.

Jointly with the Korea International Cooperation Agency, the group has initiated the program as part of the East Asia Climate Partnership to supply irrigation water and electricity to a total of 1,250 families. The project cost 2.3 billion won, with the construction length of 30 months from July 2010.

 

Earlier in 2009, Daesung Group had successfully completed a project in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, to prevent desertification using a solar-and-wind combined power generation system. It is currently undertaking a solar power system project in the Galapagos Islands, following similar projects in Ethiopia and Kazakhstan.

대성, 방글라데시에 태양광 설치

대성그룹이 방글라데시 20여 오지마을에 태양광 관개시스템과 태양광 홈시스템을 설치해 농업 용수와 가정용 전기를 공급한다. 

대성그룹 계열사인 대성에너지는 28일 방글라데시 수도 다카에서 서쪽으로 300㎞ 떨어진 라즈샤히 지역에서 태양광 관개펌프 및 홈시스템 지원사업 준공식을 가졌다. 

한국국제협력단(KOICA)의 동아시아 기후파트너십 사업의 일환으로 추진한 이 사업을 통해 1250가구에 전기와 관개용수를 공급할 수 있게 됐다고 회사 측은 설명했다. 사업비는 23억원 규모로 2010년 7월부터 30개월간 진행했다. 

대성에너지는 발전시스템 설치와 함께 현지 인력의 국내 초청 연수와 현지 전문가를 양성하는 기술 교육 프로그램도 마련했다. 김영훈 대성그룹 회장은 “식량, 에너지, 수자원 부족을 동시에 해결한 좋은 사례”라고 말했다. 

대성그룹은 2009년 몽골 울란바토르에서 태양광-풍력 복합발전시스템을 이용한 사막화 방지 사업을 했다. 에티오피아와 카자흐스탄에 이어 에콰도르 갈라파고스에서도 태양광 발전 프로젝트를 진행하고 있다.
