SEOUL, KOREA - Seven out of ten Korean companies have interest in inter-Korean economic cooperation. According to a survey conducted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry with 500 domestic companies, 73.4 percent of the respondents said that they have or will have interest in the resumption of cooperative relationship between South and North Korea.26.6 percent of the respondents said that their interest in inter-Korean economic cooperation has declined. As for the conditions for the cooperation, 43.9 percent said that they are dissatisfied with the current conditions, much higher than 8.6 percent who said they are satisfied.
44.3 percent of the respondents said they expect the inter-Korean economic cooperation will expand along with the inauguration of the new administration in Korea, dwarfing 11.8 percent who said it will be contracted.
39.9 percent picked the new administration’s North Korean policy as the biggest variable that would impact on the expansion of the inter-Korean economic cooperation, followed by 27.3 percent who said it would depend on how North Korea will respond, and 20.7 percent depending on the potential for North Korea’s additional nuke provocations.

기업 73% "남북 경협에 관심 있다"
국내기업 10곳 중 7곳은 남북한 경제협력에 관심을 갖고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
대한상공회의소가 국내기업 500개사를 대상으로 ‘남북경협에 대한 인식과 대응실태’를 조사한 결과, 73.4%의 기업이 “남북 경협에 현재 관심을 갖고 있거나 향후 관심 가질 예정”이라고 답했다. “예전에 비해 관심이 줄었다”는 답변은 26.6%였다. 그러나 경협 여건의 만족도에 대해 “불만족스럽다”는 답변이 43.9%로 “만족스럽다”(8.6%)는 의견에 크게 앞섰다.
응답기업의 44.3%는 새정부가 출범하면 남북경협이 확대될 것이라고 예상했고 ‘위축될 것’으로 내다본 기업들은 11.8%에 그쳤다. 기업들은 남북경협 확대에 가장 큰 영향을 미칠 변수로 새정부의 대북정책(39.9%)에 이어 북한의 호응정도(27.3%)와 제3차 핵실험 등 북한의 추가도발 여부(20.7%)를 차례로 꼽았다.
새정부의 남북경협 관련 공약 중 기대가 큰 분야는 북한 지하자원의 공동개발(32.4%), 개성공단의 국제화(19.7%), 대륙철도와 연계한 복합 물류네트워크 구축(17.2%), 북한의 인프라 확충(16.0%) 등이었다. 남북경협 활성화를 위한 정책방향으로는 경제외적 요인에 흔들리지 않는 투자여건 조성(39.9%)에 이어 이념 떠나 경제원칙 충실(19.2%), 성과와 북한 변화정도에 따른 점진적 확대(18.5%), 민간 자율성 강화(14.8%) 등을 주문했다.
남북경협을 추진해 본 기업을 대상으로 경협 중 겪은 애로에 대해 물은 결과 제도·절차상 요인으로 ‘통행, 통신, 통관 불편’(47.6%)을, 비제도적 요인으로는 ‘북한당국의 태도 급변’(43.8%)을 가장 많이 꼽았다.
전수봉 대한상의 조사1본부장은 “천안함사태 이후 남북간 경제교류협력이 대부분 단절돼 있다”며 “새정부 출범으로 남북경협에 대한 기대감이 높아지고 있는 시점에서 북한은 3차 핵실험 시도를 중단하고 경협 정상화의 기회를 잡아야 할 것”이라고 말했다.
