China’s growing building sector offers limitless opportunities for automation and electrical engineering specialists

With strong positive feedback from the previous edition, the Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology show will return for its 10th edition from 9 – 12 June 2013 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, Guangzhou, China. Held concurrently with the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition and Building Solar China, the show is recognised as Asia’s premier platform for electrical engineering as well as the building and home automation market. As such, the 2013 fair has already confirmed over 150 exhibitors.

Mr Richard Li, General Manager, Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Ltd commented: “The Guangzhou show returns because of the extraordinary growth in development that China’s cities are witnessing. There is a rapid increase in urbanisation across the country, aided by the Central Government’s 12th Five-Year Plan. We believe the fair will grow bigger in 2013, and are expecting over 28,000 visitors for the next edition.” For the 2012 show, 26,147 visitors came to source everything from lighting control and generic cabling systems to switches, sockets and power supplies from a total of 261 exhibitors. The show covered two dedicated halls, with exhibitors utilising 15,000 sqm of space.

Mr Li’s estimation for 2013 looks to be right on target. The fair’s organiser, Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd has already confirmed participation from globally-recognised firms such as Beckhoff Automation (Germany), BOCHO (Switzerland), Crestron Electronics Inc (USA), Delta Green Tech (Taiwan), Echelon Technology (USA), Dynalite (Australia), LeGrand (France), Phoenix Contact (Germany), Schneider Electric (France), Siemens (Germany), Textron (USA) and WAGO Electronic (Germany). Additionally, the two prominent industry associations, EnOcean Alliance (Germany) and KNX Association (Belgium), will exhibit and share the latest standards in building technology. The 2013 show has also garnered continued support from leading industry associations in the areas of real estate, intelligent building and automation as well as engineering and architectural development.

In order to offer more engaging experiences to attendees, several prominent seminars will be available once again at the Guangzhou fair. Topics will focus on areas such as:

- Future trends in China’s intelligent building and home automation market

- The application and latest technical developments in intelligent building sector

- Standards for home building control systems

- Internet-of-Things technology and smart home development

China’s growing building sector offers limitless opportunities for automation and electrical engineering specialists

As China’s economy continues to see unprecedented growth, urbanisation has become one of the largest driving forces to raise the living standards of the country’s residents. In 2011, the rate of urbanisation in China exceeded 50%, and is expected to continue growing for at least the next 20 years. This development has increased demand within the construction market for innovative electrical engineering as well as the integration of internet technology and eco-friendly solutions into property development.

Property developers and buyers across China have begun making calls for products and solutions that provide more comfortable homes and commercial spaces. According to the government’s 12th Five-Year Plan, Internet-of-Things, cloud computing and buildings that emphasise energy efficiency and environmental protection are all emerging industries in the country. Intelligent buildings and cities had an estimated market value of RMB 300 billion in 2012, with the market expected to exceed RMB 1 trillion over the next ten years. Additionally, energy-efficient solutions are deemed to be worth RMB 500 – 560 billion by 2013.
