SEOUL, KOREA LG Electronics said on January 31 that it has won the "Low-carbon" certification from the Ministry of Environment for its 2013 Whisen "Champion Style" air-conditioner model. The Low-carbon certification is given to those companies achieving the highest level of carbon emissions reduction.
In addition, the company earned the "Carbon Saver" certification, the entry-level citation, for its system air-conditioner "Multi-V Super 4." The company has 86 carbon performance-related certifications in all, the highest number in the industry.
Cho Ju-wan, LG executive with the AE Business Division, said, "The latest award proved our company's environmental friendliness as well as technological prowess. We will keep the leading position in the world's air-conditioner market by coming up with a series of carbon-efficient models."
The carbon performance assessment scheme, introduced by the Ministry of Environment and run by the Korean Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, is intended to encourage the development and consumption of environment-friendly products.
