Worldwide display industry leaders are gathering in Seoul this month. They were invited to a 'Korea Display Conference (KDC) 2006' event, where they could gauge the display market through 2006 second-half market analyses, and major display firms' second-half business plans and forecasts.

The KDC2006, held at the COEX, Seoul, for two days from July 6 and 7 2007, is a unique international display conference organized by Korea, and this will mark the seventh meeting. The KDC has so far offered a number of presentations by Japanese, Taiwanese, North American and European firms as well as domestic players as a business conference designed to analyze key issues facing the display market and share forecasts for the future market.
Invited keynote speakers at the KDC2006 conference include James P. Clappin, president at Corning Display Technologies, who is the first person to be invited to a local conference, Jung Ho-Gyun, vice president of the nextgeneration display research center at Samsung SDI, Peter Compo, vice president at DuPont, who takes charge of the company's display business, Michael Ciesinski , president at the U.S.-based display consortium USDC, and Peter Kwon, president at Displaybank, which organized the conference. In their keynote speeches, they are scheduled to deliver presentations on the current display industry's dynamics and influences on the economy, and secondhalf forecasts & business strategies for individual companies.
Topics of KDC2006 sessions
Apart from keynote speeches, a total of nine essential market issues covering all display devices are chosen as session topics, and based on these topics, major companies will discuss and share their market analyses and countermeasure strategies with other participants. Main topics are TFT-LCD vendors' strategies, LCD core component technology trends, backlight technology and market issues, PDP competitiveness analysis and largeformat FPF TV market competitiveness analysis, small/medium display technology issues, OLED and nextgeneration display and major issues, and technology issue analysis with regard to the equipment market.
Some 50 industry experts leading display industry technologies and market trends from countries such as the United States, Japan, Taiwan, and China, as well as Korea will become the speakers at the KDC2006, consisting of a total of 10 sessions.
Invited speakers at the KDC 2006 conference by region include representatives of a total of 18 foreign companies - eight Japan-based companies, seven North American companies, and three Chinese & Taiwanese companies - and 20 domestic corporations.

As well as the conference, the gathering will provide a platform for presentations by major companies on a wide range of market issues described above, a reception event, where speakers and event participants come together to pass out their business cards and exchange information.
