SEOUL, KOREA – Korea System Integration R&D Association said on February 3 that it was thrashing out ways to develop knowledge platforms aimed to rev up the export of public IT services as part of the government’s research projects. There have been knowledge platforms to support the manufacturing industry’s exports, but there was no export promotion strategy whatsoever in the IT service sector.
Knowledge platforms for IT service exports will cover information on the bidding schedules of major overseas public-sector projects, qualifications, various legal matters, bidding requirements, local companies operating in major nations and human resources.
To that end, prioritization of overseas market sectors will be done based on studies on where the domestic and overseas IT service industries stand at the moment. Major export items in the public IT service sector include Korea’s e-government system, ITS (intelligent transport systems) and airport management systems.
Once research tasks are completed, a variety of relevant databases will be gathered to set up supportive platforms through close consultations with the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, National Information Society Agency, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Korea Exim Bank, etc.
