SEOUL, KOREA - 20 members of the GM Korea Employee Foundation, a charitable organization established by the employees of GM Korea, today served Tteokguk (traditional rice cake and dumpling soup) and presented a gift to 300 solitary elderly at the Bukwang Church in Incheon.
The Sharing Love Event for Lunar New Year” was carried out in advance of the traditional Seol (Lunar New Year) holiday to wish the senior citizens and their family members a healthy and happy life.
GM Korea executives who participated included Domestic Vehicle & Powertrain Manufacturing Vice President Youngcheol Jeon;; Powertrain Operations Vice President Pyongwan Park; Labor Relations Vice President Kundo Cho; Global Purchasing and Supply Chain Vice President Ashwani Muppasani; and Senior Advisor of Government Relations and Public Policy Inbom Choi.
Choi said, “It is a pleasure to deliver joy and happiness to the elderly. GM Korea is committed to giving back to the local community and sharing our good fortune with our neighbors.”
Soonwook Lim, one of the attendees, said: “I appreciated the unexpected welcome and hospitality. Today’s activity will enable me to enjoy a happy Seol holiday.”
Since its establishment in 2005, the GM Korea Employee Foundation has supported a variety of charitable and volunteer activities for those in need. Many of its activities are carried out in advance of holidays such as Lunar New Year, Korean Thanksgiving and Christmas, and on special occasions such as the Day of Persons with Disabilities and Parents Day.
