SEOUL, KOREA - SK telecom (represented by Ha Seong-min) announced 5th that the number of subscribers that changed their terminals out of the existing ones had tripled or so for the last five days since it was banned from recruiting new subscribers, showing its preferential treatment policy for the existing subscribers was bearing fruitful results.
Out of SK telecom service users, around 9,900 changed their terminals on a daily basis from 1st to 30th of the previous month. The number, however, had skyrocketed to 29,400 on average per day for the last five days from 31st of last month to 4th of this month.
The telecommunications giant attributes such a great increase to the effect of ‘Good Terminal Change’, a preferential program for its long-term users started on 31st of last month, adding that the special treatment program is being well received by the terminal-changing users as they can benefit from it. The telecommunications company also plans to expand the program by providing more terminal change options around the middle of this month.

SK텔레콤(대표 하성민)은 신규가입자 모집금지 이후 5일간 기기변경 가입자가 약 3배 증가하며 기존 고객 우대정책이 성과를 내고 있다고 5일 밝혔다.
SK텔레콤 기기변경 가입자는 지난달 1일부터 30일까지 일 평균 9900명이었지만, 지난달 31일부터 지난 4일까지 5일간 일 평균 2만9400명으로 급격히 늘어난 것으로 나타났다.
SK텔레콤은 기기변경 가입자 증가 이유에 대해 지난달 31일부터 시작한 장기고객 우대 프로그램 `착한 기변` 효과라고 분석했다. 기기변경 가입자 대부분이 착한 기변 프로그램을 이용해 장기고객 할인 혜택을 누리는 등 제도가 빠르게 정착되고 있다는 설명이다. SK텔레콤은 이르면 이달 중순 교체 단말 기종을 확대하는 등 착한 기변 프로그램 확대도 검토하고 있다.
장동현 SK텔레콤 마케팅부문장은 “착한 기변 초기 성과에서 번호이동 위주의 왜곡된 이동통신 유통시장을 고객 혜택 확대 기조로 변화시킬 수 있다는 가능성을 봤다”며 “더 많은 고객이 착한 기변 혜택을 누릴 수 있도록 지속적으로 제도를 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
