SEOUL, KOREA – LG Electronics is forecast to hit 40 million in smartphone sales this year. Daishin Securities Research Center forecast on Wednesday that LG Electronics will sell over 10 million smartphone units quarterly. Such a rosy projection is based on the fact that expended LTE services and growth in the market for low-to-midrange smartphone models have breathed new life into the competitiveness of the global electronics giant.
The anticipated quarterly sales of 10 million are expected to be led by the 5.5-inch OptimusG Pro and the second model of the mid-range L Series.
The Optimus G and the Google Nexus 4, which were released last year, have significantly enhanced LG Electronics’ brand recognition and proved LG’s prowess in hardware around the world.
LG Electronics’ smartphone portfolio consists of the following four: the Optimus G (premium), the Optimus Vu (with a large screen), the Optimus L (a mid-range 3G phone) and the Optimus F (a mid-range LTE phone).
Kang-ho Park, head of the Tech Team at Daishin Securities Research Center, said, “In the premium smartphone markets in Korea, the US and Japan, LG Electronics increasingly stands out from all the other global smartphone makers except Samsung Electronics and Apple.
