Seoul, Korea - Customer loyalty to Apple is sharply dropping, in its own backyard.
On January 5th(the U.S. time), the Forbes quoted the most recent survey by Brand Keys that found Samsung Electronics to top Apple and take the highest rank in customer loyalty for smartphones. Apple took the second place, followed by LG Electronics and others.
In tablet PC’s, Apple also yielded its place to Amazon and fell to the second place to be seated together with Samsung.
Brand Keys conducted this survey covering 400 major brands in 54 categories with the sample size of 49,000 Americans to identify Brand Keys 2013 Customer Loyalty Engagement Index, CLEI. Brand Keys had been conducting this survey for 17 years.
Samsung and Apple took the first place together in Computer (Laptops) category. Samsung took another first place in flat screen TV category, and took the second place in printers.
Robert Passikoff, CEO of Brand Keys commented that a massive change is coming, and Samsung was excellent in brand advertising.

미국 소비자들 사이에서도 애플에 대한 충성도가 급격히 낮아지고 있다.
포브스는 5일(현지시각) `브랜드 키즈(Brand Keys)`의 최근 조사를 바탕으로 삼성전자가 애플을 제치고 스마트폰 고객충성도에서 1위를 차지했다고 보도했다. 애플은 2위를 차지했으며 후순위는 LG전자, 노키아•소니(공동 순위), 모토로라, HTC, 블랙베리 등으로 이어졌다. 지난해 1위는 애플이었다.
스마트패드(태블릿PC) 충성도 역시 애플이 2위로 밀려나면서 아마존이 1위에 올랐다. 삼성전자는 애플과 함께 공동 2위에 올랐다. 3위는 반즈앤노블이었다.
이번 결과는 브랜드 키즈가 미국민 4만9000명을 대상으로 주요 브랜드 400개를 54개 부문으로 나눠 고객충성도(Brand Keys 2013 Customer Loyalty Engagement Index, CLEI)를 조사한데 따른 것이다. 브랜드 키즈의 조사는 17년째 이어지고 있다.
컴퓨터(랩톱) 부문에서는 삼성전자와 애플이 공동 1위를 차지했다. 이어 아수스, 도시바•소니, 에이서•HP, 레노버•비지오, 델 등의 순위였다. 평면TV 부문 1위 역시 삼성전자였다. 비지오, 소니, LG 등이 뒤따랐다. 프린터 부문은 1위가 캐논이고 2위가 삼성전자로 나타났다.
로버트 패시노프 브랜드 키즈 최고경영자(CEO)는 “엄청난 변화가 일고 있다”면서 “삼성전자의 브랜드 광고 등이 매우 우수하다”고 평가했다.
