Seoul Motor Show 2013: Bike Tour in DMZ Registration Now Open

SEOUL, KOREA - With “Seoul Motor Show 2013” about 30 days ahead, its organizing committee is planning to convene a cycling tour for those who are fans of automobiles.

“DMZ Bike Tour with Seoul Motor Show 2013” hosted by the Organizing Committee for Seoul Motor Show and Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will be held on February 24 in Imgingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Park.

Tour Course (For DMZ Bicycle Tour)

Demilitarized Zone or DMZ is a civilian control zone, making it one of the cleanest regions in South Korea. Aimed to be enlisted as the UNESCO Natural Heritage, the region retains a well-preserved nature, and cyclists will enjoy the picturesque view on the riding courses. Participants will assemble at the Pyeonghoa-Nuri park before departing from the Injingak Tongmun Gate to run the 17㎞ route through Tongildaegyo Bridge and Chopyeongdo Island.

The organizing committee will spare no efforts for safety management in the civilian control zone. The participants will be rated as beginner or intermediate or higher level before the event and provided with special vest equipped with RFID. In the event day, Paju Police office, fire station, military officials will be mobilized to beef up security. Also, cyclists will be given group insurance benefits related to the event.

Heo-wan, secretary general of the committee, said that “as the biggest B2C exhibit in South Korea, Seoul Motor Show 2013 will be thrown as a festival for the people.” He added, “the  DMZ Bike Tour will provide a vision for the future-oriented, eco-friendly automobiles.”

There is no registration fee, and participants can rent bicycles on the event day free of charge if they are without it. Souvenirs including DMZ rice will be prepared for all participants.

Those who want to participate can apply online from February 7th to 17th visiting the official website of Seoul Motor Show (www.motorshow.or.kr), or through the homepage of Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri, (http://peace.ggtour.or.kr). Family applicants will be given priority.
