SEOUL, KOREA – On Monday, Daewoo Electronics said its Cold Air Research Institute, located in Bupyeong District, Incheon, was certified as a refrigerator energy tester by the Chinese government.
Accordingly, Daewoo Electronics can have its refrigerators, bound for the Chinese market, energy-certified by its own research institute.
To build an efficient energy certification system, Daewoo Electronics Cold Air Research Institute last year applied to become a CQC (China Quality Certification) tester.
Since the designation of Daewoo Electronics Cold Air Research Institute as a CQC tester, a total of seven Daewoo models including the Klasse Cube three-door refrigerator and two-door models have obtained the CEL (China Energy Label).
Since August of 2004, China has put the China Energy Label Scheme in place.
Dae-sung Wie, the head of Daewoo Electronics Cold Air Research Institute said, “The several month-long process of having our refrigerators bear the CEL was shortened to less than a month. Besides, the cost of having our refrigerators certified has halved."
