SEOUL, KOREA – The new Korean government led by Park Geun-hye will put the building of an ecosystem for intellectual property (IP) on the list of its top 100 national tasks. The newly created Ministry of Future Creation and Science is expected to implement various policies designed to lay the groundwork for IP creation, protection and utilization.
On Thursday, the presidential transition team said the task of building an ecosystem for IP would be included in the list of the new Korean government’s national tasks.
Building an IP ecosystem was one of President-elect Park Geun-hye’s campaign pledges. The inclusion of the task in the list is very meaningful in that once a task lands on the list, the task will be implemented for five straight years and inter-ministerial cooperation for the tasks is guaranteed. Endeavors to build an IP ecosystem will be spearheaded by the Ministry of Future Creation and Science, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korean Intellectual Property Office.
