SEOUL, KOREA – “Following our entries into the Chinese, Japanese and US markets, we have been geared up to break into the EU market this year,” said Charles Pyo, CEO of Wizard Works (the Korean developer of easy-to-use, cloud-based notetaking app “SomNote,” which can compare with Evernote.
Unlike Evernote that mainly finds favor with businessmen, SomNote is popular especially with women thanks to its user friendliness, pretty colours and a host of features. Nearly 20% of the SomNote users are non-Koreans. CEO Pyo said, “The EU’s biggest mobile operator, Vodafone, has put SomNote on its list of recommendable apps.”
Participation by start-ups in the MWC 2013 is expected to pick up. The GSM Association (GSMA), the organizer of the MWC 2013, said, “App Planet Exhibition this year will feature a wider range of apps. Korea’s Wizard Works, Greenmonster (the developed of mobile diary “Flava”) and AppDisco (the provider of AdLatte) are scheduled to partake in the MWC 2013.
In addition, Erisson and AT&T will hold a hackathon (hacking + marathon) event for two days at the MWC under the theme of “Build a Mobile App, Support Sustainable Cities, Go to Brazil!.”
