SEOUL, KOREA – Gwanggyo Techno Valley will become a full-blown, state-of-the-art energy grid complex. On Monday, the Gyeonggi Small Business Center (GSBC) announced that Gwanggyo Techno Valley was selected as a beneficiary of the K-MEG (Korea Micro Energy Grid) project, which has been pursued by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and Samsung C&T Corporation to steel Korea against energy crises.
The K-MEG (Korea Micro Energy Grid) project, which furnishes a total solution that ensures as much as a 30% reduction in energy consumption by converging IT and smart grid technologies, aims to develop Korean-style energy technologies based on Korea’s world-class IT environment.
The K-MEG project will bear the installation cost of KRW 2.5 billion for the GSBC. Then, the GSBC will spend the subsidy installing new systems (e.g. gas engines, heat pumps, smart LED) and improving building energy management systems (BEMS) in a bid to cut energy costs by KRW 200 million annually and save KRW one billion in the replacement of outdated facilities with new ones.
