SEOUL, KOREA – At the upcoming MWC 2013, a slew of new services based on the evolution of mobile networks and All-IP networks will be put on display. The most attention-grabbing is technologies related to LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) including carrier aggregation (CA), which is cable of doubling the speed of network data transmission.
SK Telecom will demonstrate key LTE-A technologies (which guarantee speeds twice faster than LTE) and small-cell networks such as femto cells (which allow service providers to extend service coverage indoors or underground, especially where access would otherwise be limited or unavailable) and Tetra-cells.
Ericsson will introduce various CA technologies including a seamless LTE FDD/TDD handover. In cooperation with Qualcomm, Ericsson will carry out demonstrations of the world's first VoLTE and Rich Communication Services (RCS) integrated on an LTE smartphone platform.
Also, NFC-enabled services that fuse mobile services with other industries will be featured. SK Telecom and SK Planet will put up a mobile commerce experience booth to help MWC visitors experience first-hand NFC mobile payment and “PayPin” systems.
Meanwhile, at the MWC 2013, KT will introduce its new mobile payment service “MoCa” to the world.
