SEOUL, KOREA - Korea Electrical Manufacturers Association (Jang Sei-chang, the Chairman) held a regular general meeting for 2013 on Feb. 19 and announced that it would endeavor to enhance a competitive edge of technology to advance into the overseas market.
“Despite the recent domestic economic downturn, the electrical industry posted 13.8 billion dollars in sales last year. We are planning to increase the number by more than 20% to stand at 16 billion dollars through nurturing R&D businesses and supporting overseas businesses to strengthen market competitiveness this year,” says the Chairman.
The Association is to launch a research project on ‘the establishment of a strategy to strengthen global competitiveness in the heavy electrical equipment industry’ for the purpose of securing a competitive edge of the local heavy electrical equipment businesses in the world market. While sharing such a strategy based on the analysis of relevant local businesses, it also plans to ask for the government’s supports.
The Association is going to put in a technology development fund worth about 8 billion won to facilitate relevant R&D and to enhance competitiveness of the electrical business.
전기산업진흥회, 해외시장 진출에 `총력`
한국전기산업진흥회(회장 장세창)는 19일 삼성동 섬유센터에서 2013년 정기총회를 열고 기술 경쟁력 강화를 통한 해외시장 진출에 적극 나선다고 밝혔다.
장세창 회장은 “최근 국내외 어려운 경제상황에도 지난해 전기산업계는 138억달러의 수출 실적을 달성했다”며 “올해는 시장경쟁력을 높이기 위한 R&D사업과 각종 해외 지원 사업을 통해 지난해 보다 20% 이상 성장한 160억달러 수출 달성을 이루겠다”고 말했다.
전기산업진흥회는 올해 국내 중전기기 업계의 해외시장 경쟁력 확보를 위해 `중전기기 산업 글로벌 경쟁력 강화전략 수립` 연구 용역 사업에 착수한다. 국내 업계를 분석한 후 해외 시장 진출을 위한 전략을 공유하면서 정부의 지원책을 적극 유도하겠다는 계획이다.
제품 경쟁력 강화에도 나선다. 전기산업 연구개발 활성화와 기술 경쟁력을 위해 약 80억원 규모의 중전기기 기술개발기금을 지원할 방침이다. 지속 성장이 가능한 핵심 R&D 사업을 발굴해 기술 개발 로드맵을 작성하는 등 업계 기술경쟁력 강화에 힘을 보탤 계획이다.
이와 함께 한국전력공사·한국중부발전·KOTRA 등과 함께 수출유망지역 중심의 해외 진출사업을 추진한다. 아세안·메콩지역 3개국과 중앙아시아 2개국의 수출 촉진단을 파견하고 각종 해외 유망전시회 참가도 지원할 계획이다. 이날 행사에서 대한전선과 LS전선이 새로운 임원사로 선임됐다.
