SEOUL, KOREA – At the “LG Innovation Festival 2013,” held in LG Twin Towers on Wednesday, LG Group handed out “No.1 LG Awards” to LG’s four most innovative ventures to mark their splendid 2012 performance in the global market.
The four awardees were ultra HD TV, drum washing machines, In-cell touch panels and NCC (Naphtha Cracking Center).
The LG Ultra HD TV venture released an 84-inch TV six months earlier than LG’s competitors. Energy-efficient LG drum washing machines had continued to rank first in terms of market share in the North American market. In-cell touch panels that make smartphones slimmer and lighter were regarded as a technology that spearheads the slim IT device market. LG Chemical’s NCC got the credit for independently setting up a production process that uses 40% less energy than its equivalents in the same industry.
“Innovation is the starting point for enhancing customer value and what puts LG a step ahead of others. Building on such achievements, LG has to take its innovations to the next level,” said LG Group Chairman Koo Bon-moo who has continued to attend the LG Innovation Festival since he took office in 1995.
