SEOUL, KOREA – Samsung Electronics has applied gesture-based, not-touch technology called hovering to the Galaxy S4 - due out next month - for the first time in its smartphone history.
Samsung Electronics seems determined to seize the No. 1 spot in the global smartphone market by flaunting unrivalled user interfaces and competitive hardware via the hovering touch system and the S stylus.
According the industry, Samsung Electronics has outfitted the Galaxy S4 with a TSP that allows users to hover their finger over the screen to scroll through pages and perform other tasks. This can be very useful considering that wearing winter gloves makes touch screen scrolling very tricky.
The key to the glove-friendly touchscreen technology is a built-in chip that raises the sensitivity of touch signal transmission while getting rid of noise. Yet, once the sensitivity of touch signal transmission is enhanced by raising the speed of signal transmission, noise also can be inputted onto the touch screen, therefore triggering touch errors. Samsung Electronics has deftly raised the speed of sensing to avoid noise interference.
