SEOUL, KOREA – The Ministry of Knowledge and Economy and Gyeongsangnam-do will press ahead with a KRW 420 billion robot belt project. Though the Korean government’s preliminary feasibility study remains to be done, things are looking up.
This projects aims to upgrade the local economy by exploiting robot technology and to create a new market for commercial robots.
Gyeongsangnam-do and Gyeongnam Robot Industry Foundation (GRIF) have thrashed out a robot belt roadmap after one year of local hearings and industry-academia consultations. As of now, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance is reviewing the project’s feasibility and economic effects.
The robot belt project seeks to attain the following two goals: the remodeling of the outmoded Changwon Industrial Complex into the world’s best, most cutting-edge industrial complex and the development of entertainment robots & creation of a new market.
In conjunction with the existing Masan Robot Land Project, this project will develop entertainment robots for performances, matches and games and create fresh demand for robots nationwide.
