SEOUL, KOREA – The Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) will team up with Small and Medium Business Administration (SMBA) to set up a “one roof” export promotion system designed to help small- and medium-sized Korean exporters boost their exports. Since the MKE and SMBA join forces, synergetic effects are expected policy wise.
Under the conceived one roof system, small- and medium-sized Korean exporters can enjoy one-stop access to export-related information and the benefits of support programs in foreign nations. Institutions affiliated with the MKE have thus far provided them with export-related information while the SMBA has separately run export marketing programs. An official from the MKE mentioned, “There are many institutional export supporters such as Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, Korea International Trade Association (KITA) and Small and Medium Business Corporation (SBC). We seek to provide Korean exporters with hassle-free, one-stop access to a wide pool of export-related information offered by many different institutions.
As part of this ‘one roof” scheme, KOTRA trade centers will be put up in Korea’s five largest cities and SBC export incubators are likely to be built in LA, Frankfurt, Beijing, Tokyo, Dubai and Mexico.
