SEOUL, KOREA  – Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) has picked smartphone gloves, portable chargers and Galaxy smartphone cases as the most promising items that are soon to be global hits amid the global economic recession. Releasing a report on soon-to-be global hits for 2013, KOTRA has forecast that the global market for smartphone peripherals will grow to a great degree.

KOTRA said, “As smartphones have become inseparable from people around the globe, consumers are opening their purses to purchase accessories that enhance the convenience of smartphones.”

Smartphone gloves are in high demand in countries like the Netherlands where people ride a bicycle even in winter. And portable chargers are picked as an item that will become more popular among young people and salarymen in Indonesia.

KOTRA predicted that cases for the Galaxy series will sell well in Hong Kong where sales of accessories for Korean smartphones have picked up thanks to the popularity of Korean smartphones. According to the KOTRA report, premium headphones (fetching between USD 200 to USD 400) are expected to catch on in the US.

Ovulation calculators (for India), pet diet services (for Japan) and power sockets with a power gauge attached (for Germany) were also placed on KOTRA’s list of soon-to-be global hits.
