SEOUL, KOREA – US power equipment manufacturer Emerson Electric Company will invest USD 40 million in the construction of a R&D center and a factory on a 8,115㎡ site in the Jukjeon Digital Valley, Youngin.
Back in 1988, Emerson Electric Company (an American multinational corporation headquartered in Ferguson, Missouri) set up Emerson Electric Korea in Seongnam, southeast of Seoul. With the planned investment, it will move its entire operations to the the Jukjeon Digital Valley.
Emerson Electric Korea is scheduled to move into the Jukjeon Digital Valley in January 2016. Once the relocation is completed, it will take on 50 more R&D personnel to raise the number of employees at Emerson Electric Korea to 350.
The 142,037㎡ Jukjeon Digital Valley is an industrial complex created by Daou Tech in 2010. As of now, it is home to Dongbu Insurance Data Center, Shinhan Financial Group Data Center, Hanwha Data Center and the R&D center of Veeco (a US LED equipment maker).

美 애머슨일렉트릭, 죽전디지털밸리에 새 공장 건립
자동측정기 및 제어장치 분야 세계적 기업인 미국 애머슨일렉트릭이 4000만달러를 투자, 용인 죽전디지털밸리 내 8115㎡(약 2455평) 부지에 연구개발(R&D) 및 제조공장을 건설한다.
애머슨일렉트릭은 미 미주리주에 본사를 둔 글로벌기업이다. 우리나라에는 지난 1988년 지사를 설립하고 성남 시콕스타워에 입주했다. 이번 투자로 국내 사업장 전체를 용인 죽전디지털밸리로 확장 이전한다.
애머슨일렉트릭은 27일 죽전디지털밸리 내 다우디지털스퀘어에서 이 같은 내용으로 자회사 애머슨프로세스매니지먼트(EPM)와 다우기술 및 경기도, 용인시가 참여하는 4자간 투자협약을 체결했다.
죽전디지털밸리 사업장은 4월 중에 건축허가를 받아 착공해 오는 2016년 1월 준공•입주할 예정이다. 이전을 완료하면 R&D 인력 50명을 추가로 채용, 국내 지사 인력을 총 350명으로 증원하기로 했다.
여재홍 경기도 투자진흥과장은 “일본 NEG가 파주 당동산업단지에 5억달러를 추가 투자하기로 하면서 연초에만 6억달러 규모에 이르는 외국인 투자가 이뤄졌다”며 “이를 계기로 그동안 상담을 진행해 온 외국기업 투자가 속속 이어지고 있다”고 밝혔다.
죽전디지털밸리는 다우기술이 2010년 용인시 죽전동 산25-2번지 일원에 총 14만2037㎡ 규모로 조성한 산업단지다. 동부 데이터센터와 신한금융 데이터센터, 한화 데이터센터를 비롯해 미국 LED 장비업체인 비코코리아 연구센터가 입주해 있다.
