Seoul, Korea - An electronic wallet service co-developed by Harex InfoTech and KT called Moca is going to be presented as a case of innovation at Harvard.
Harex InfoTech announced on the 27th that it was selected as one of the finalists in innovative technology category by The Innovation Project 2013 to be held at Harvard University on March 20th and 21st.
The Innovation Project 2013 is an annual event hosted by Harvard to share and celebrate the industry trend and innovation cases. Moca by Harex InfoTech was nominated in the Best New Technology category.
A panel of experts reviewed applications by more than 500 companies worldwide and selected five finalists each for total of 15 categories. Harex InfoTech was the only Korean company nominated. The winners will be selected by the online voting until Marth 7th.
Meanwhile, Warren Buffett, the Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. is to give the keynote speech for the event, and well-known figures including ex-Vice President, Al Gore, economist and writer, Steve Levitt and professor Josh Lerner, the world’s best known scholar on knoweldge economy, are known to be attending the event.
Moca is a user-centric smart payment service that searches applicable coupons and membership points and suggests the most beneficial payment combination when making a payment at the points of sale.

하렉스인포텍과 KT가 개발한 전자지갑 서비스 `모카(Moca)`가 하버드대에서 혁신 사례로 소개된다.
27일 하렉스인포텍은 3월 20일부터 21일까지 미국 하버드대에서 열리는 `이노베이션 프로젝트 2013(The Innovation Project 2013)`에 혁신기술 부문 최종 후보로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
이노베이션 프로젝트 2013은 매년 하버드대에서 업계 트렌드와 혁신사례를 공유, 시상하는 행사다. 이 중 베스트 뉴 테크놀로지(Best New Technology) 부문에 하렉스인포텍의 `모카`가 노미네이트됐다.
후보 선정은 세계에서 지원한 500여개 기업 중 전문가 패널이 심사해 총 15개 부문에서 각각 5개 후보기업을 선정해 이뤄졌다. 노미네이트된 기업 중 한국기업은 하렉스인포텍이 유일하다. 최종 수상 기업은 3월 7일까지 인터넷 투표를 통해 결정된다.
한편 이번 행사 기조연설은 워런 버핏 버크셔 헤서웨이 회장이 맡을 것으로 알려졌다. 엘 고어 미국 전 부통령, 괴짜 경제학 저자 스티브 레빗, 세계 지식경제 석학 조쉬 러너 교수 등 세계 유명인사가 총출동한다.
모카는 결제 시 각종 쿠폰과 멤버십 혜택을 알아서 찾아주고, 혜택이 가장 큰 조합을 제시해주는 사용자 중심의 스마트 복합결제 서비스다.
