SEOUL, KOREA – KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) said Tuesday it will hold Cartoon Connection 2013, a global animation event, at Grand Hyatt Seoul from March 19 through 21. Cartoon Connection 2013 will be partaken in by 114 companies (including 58 Korean firms) from 18 nations.
Nearly 40 European companies, including Rovio Entertainment (the developer of free app Angry Birds) and France Television, will participate in Cartoon Connection 2013. The Korean company lineup includes Iconix Entertainment (the developer of Pororo the Little Penguin) and RoiVisual, the producer of Robocar Poli (a South Korean animated children's television series). Approximately 900 one-on-one export consultations are in the pipeline.
“Korea’s exports of animations to the EU have grown 30% each year. KOTRA will take the lead in discovering new export markets by promoting the Korean animation industry’s scaled-up entry into the EU and the joint production of global animations between Korea and the EU,“ said KOTRA President Oh Young-ho.

KOTRA, 애니메이션 수출 상담회 개최
KOTRA는 글로벌 애니메이션 행사인 `카툰 커넥션 2013` 행사를 19일부터 21일까지 사흘간 서울 한남동 그랜드 하얏트 호텔에서 개최한다고 19일 밝혔다.
행사에는 우리 기업 58개사를 포함 해외 18개국 114개사가 참가한다. 유럽연합(EU)에선 앵그리버드로 유명한 로비오엔터테인먼트와 플랑스텔레비전 등 40개사가 참가한다. 국내에선 뽀로로 아이코닉스, 로보카 폴리의 로이비주얼 등이 나선다. 일 대 일 상담이 900여건에 달할 정도로 활발한 수출 상담이 진행된다.
오영호 KOTRA 사장은 “유럽 애니메이션 수출 증가율이 매년 30%에 이른다”며 “애니메이션 업계의 유럽 진출 확대와 한-유럽(EU)-아시아가 공동으로 참여하는 글로벌 애니메이션 제작 활성화로 시장 발굴에 앞장서겠다”고 밝혔다.
