SEOUL, KOREA – The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) said Thursday its business survey index (BSI), based on a survey of the top 600 Korean companies (in terms of sales), stands at 101.5 for April, slightly lower than the index for March (104.4). The business survey index (BSI) has hovered over the baseline of 100 for two straight months. The FKI explained that such an upbeat mood stemmed from the passing of the revised Government Organization Act and growing expectations of a US economic turnaround.
In detail, the sub index for domestic demand held at 104.0, exports at 107.9, investment at 100.9, employment at 100.7 and profitability at 101.5 while the sub index for financial conditions turned negative falling below the baseline of 100 to 98.0.
The March reading of the BSI exceeded the 100 mark in 12 months to 101.3.

대기업 기업경기실사지수 2개월 연속 `맑음`
대기업 경기호조 기대감이 2개월 연속 지속됐다.
전국경제인연합회는 매출액 기준 600대 기업을 대상으로 기업경기실사지수(BSI)를 조사한 결과, 4월 전망치가 101.5로 나타났다고 28일 밝혔다. BSI 전망은 2개월 연속 기준치인 100을 웃돌았다. 4월 전망치는 3월(104.4)보다는 소폭 하락했다. 정부 조직법이 통과되고, 경기 활성화 대책이 구체화하면서 내수 회복 기대감이 작용했다고 전경련은 설명했다. 미국 경기 회복 기대감도 작용했다고 덧붙였다.
부분별로는 내수(104.0), 수출(107.9), 투자(100.9), 고용(100.7), 채산성(101.5)은 긍정적이었으나 자금 사정(98.0)은 부정적이었다.
3월 BSI실적치는 101.3으로 1년만에 기준치(100)를 넘었다.
