SEOUL, KOREA - The number of smartphone users in Korea is estimated at about 35 million as of March 2013. In other words, seven out of ten people in Korea use smartphones. Smartphone accessories market, accordingly, is expanding at a robust pace.
The KT Economy and Management Research Lab estimated that the nation's smartphone accessories market will grow to 1.67 trillion won this year from 244.5 billion won in 2010.
One smartphone user, on average, spends 41,700 won to buy smartphone accessories per year. The best buying item is the smartphone case. As many as 46 million units of smartphone cases are expected to be sold this year. The per-unit price averages at 22,048 won, with the total value of smartphone case sales estimated at 1.02 trillion won.
Along with the diversification of mobile devices toward tablet computers, smartphone accessories market is expected to expand further.
