SEOUL, KOREA - Mando Corp., Korea's leading automotive parts supplier, will make an investment of 300 billion won by 2017 in developing next-generation parts and components including the anti-lock braking systems.

The company said on May 1 that it would start mass-producing a new ABS model "MGH-80" at its Pyeongtaek plant. The MGH-80 is 12-percent lighter and 19-percent smaller than the existing ABS models. It has improved the noise-reduction feature while enhancing the braking performance on unpaved roads.

 

A Mando official said, "Since our first proprietary ABS model in 1999, we have produced a total of 20 million ABS units until August last year. With the new mass-produced ABS model, we will actively pursue overseas markets."

 

The company will spend 160 billion won by 2017 in expanding the MGH-80 production lines, thereby producing up to 10 million units by 2017 from 7 million in 2014.

 

In addition to the ABS, Mando will invest 140 billion won in expanding its electric power steering (EPS) system production line by 2017. It will also increase investment in radar and sensor areas so that the safety features of its brake and steering systems can be enhanced.
