Analysis SK Telecom's Unethical Business Activity Causes Controversy Recently, SK Telecom has announced that it will gradually withdraw from its adult content service which it has been providing on its wireless Internet portal. However, it has been revealed that TU Media, the subsidiary of SK Telecom, has got approval for a pay-TV channel for adults. Because of this fork-tongued business activity, SK Telecom is causing controversy. More notably, the Korean Broadcasting Commission (KBC) has until now opposed to the approval of a pay-TV channel for adults. But just two weeks after it had expressed this opposing opinion, it has suddenly approved of it, thus causing doubt over its decision. According to Assemblyman Choi Koo-sik, a member of the Culture and Tourism Committee of the National Assembly, on October 18 SK Telecom announced that it will stop not only its so-called gaudy story service but also the content service for adults. The content service is now being provided through its Internet portal Nate. However, it has been revealed that TU Media had already submitted a request for approval of its satellite pay-TV channel to the KBC on March 31 this year. The KBC approved it 40 days after TU Media submitted its request.
