National Semiconductor Unveils New Products National Semiconductor Korea (www.national.com), a leading supplier of IT hardware in the information age, introduced a variety of new products in October. These consisted of new types of buffer-repeaters, industral transceivers, high-brightness LEDs and a new audio amplifier. National's DS15BR400 and DS15BR401 four-channel LVDS bufferrepeaters provide all the features necessary for designing mainstream LVDS multicards or multi-boxes. The devices operate from zero to 2.0 Gbps and feature 14 picoseconds of total jitter at 1.5 Gbps data rates. In addition, the industry's highest 15 kV of ESD protection ensures maximum protection for FPGAs, ASICs and other onboard components. The DS15BR400 and DS15BR401 include configurable pre-emphasis and are wellsuited for delivering clean LVDS signals across cables and backplanes found in a wide variety of electronic systems, including telecom, datacom, industrial, medical, automotive and office imaging applications. The four application-specific, dual-port industrial physical layer transceivers have unique flex-port switching technology and advanced cable diagnostics. National's DP83849 Phyter family of commercial and industrial transceivers address the expansive, unique needs of embedded design engineers who are developing products that require high-speed industrial connectivity and dual-port functionality for redundancy and system management. National's highly integrated DP83849C, DP83849ID, DP83849I and DP83849IF dual-port transceivers include a powerful cable diagnostic that features time domain reflectometry (TDR) and a dynamic link quality monitor, including signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimation. TDR detects faults during installation, saving significant man-hours of de-bug work. Additional innovative cable diagnostics provide real-time continuous dynamic monitoring of the link quality. For example, the SNR estimation allows system designers to implement a fault prediction mechanism to detect changing or deteriorating link conditions and proactively take corrective action, saving lengthy system downtime and costly repairs. The new family of light-emitting diode (LED) drivers are designed to power the new generation of 1W to 5W, highbrightness LEDs found in automotive, industrial and general illumination applications. National's LM3402, LM3404 and LM3405 LED drivers offer the wider input voltage range required by this fast-growing market segment. In addition, National's new LED drivers provide a constant current to regulate the LED brightness and low feedback voltage to minimize power dissipation. Optimized for 1W LEDs, National offers two versions of the LM3402 LED driver that provide wide input voltage ranges of either 6V to 42V or 6V to 75V. For 3W and 5W LEDs, the LM3404 and LM3405 have additional output current drive capability. The new mono, 2.65W, Class D Boomer audio amplifier from National Semiconductor Korea reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI) more than 11 dB below the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) limit to lower system noise in portable devices including cell phones, smart phones, music players, notebook computers, DVD players, gaming devices and other portable electronics. The LM4675 is a single-supply, filterless, high-power-output, Class D mono audio amplifier. This new class of power amplifier employs a unique spread spectrum technology and a low-noise, filter-less, pulse-width modulation (PWM) architecture that significantly lowers electromagnetic interference (EMI) and eliminates output filters. This combination reduces external component count, saves board space, lowers system cost and simplifies circuit design. National Semiconductor, the industry's premier analog company, creates highvalue analog devices and subsystems. National's leading-edge products include power management circuits, display drivers, audio and operational amplifiers, interface products and data conversion solutions. National's key analog markets include wireless handsets, displays and a variety of broad electronics markets, including medical, automotive, industrial, and test and measurement applications. Headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif., National reported sales of $2.16 billion for fiscal 2006, which ended May 28, 2006. Additional company and product information is available at.
