SEOUL, KOREA - Sammobiles, a news media specialized in Samsung products, has reported that Samsung would release ‘GALAXY S4 Zoom’ equipped with a 16 megapixel mechanical zoom lens sometime in June or July.
GALAXY S4 Zoom is an expanded version of GALAXY S4 series in terms of camera functionality. The local Smartphone maker introduced an Android-based GALAXY camera last year. GALAXY S4 Zoom has a voice communication function unlike the GALAXY camera.
The main feature of the new gadget is its mechanical zoom lens that enhances the quality of picture compared with the existing Smartphone cameras that are with digitalized zoom functions.
Samsung seems to have put a lot of efforts into improving the camera functionality of GALAXY S4. The new version boasts functions including ‘Drama Shot’ that enables continuous movements of a fast-moving object to be taken in a single picture and ‘Story Album’ which helps enter various contents such as a note, information on location, weather and others on a taken photo.
Sammobiles predicts the new product would have a dual or quad-core processor. It is also reported that it would be equipped with a 4.3-inch qHD AM OLED and an 8GB built-in memory and support Bluetooth 4.0 and W-Fi.

삼성 제품 전문 미디어 삼모바일은 삼성전자가 6월이나 7월께 1600만 화소 기계적 줌 렌즈를 단 `갤럭시S4 줌`을 출시한다고 밝혔다.
갤럭시S4 줌은 갤럭시S4 시리즈 중 카메라 기능을 강화한 제품이다. 삼성전자는 지난해 안드로이드를 쓴 갤럭시카메라를 내놨다. 갤럭시S4 줌은 갤럭시카메라와 달리 음성통화도 가능하다.
갤럭시S4 줌의 가장 큰 특징은 기계적 줌 렌즈다. 기존 스마트폰 카메라는 소프트웨어적으로 피사체를 당기는 디지털 줌 방식이다. 화소수는 높지만 렌즈의 한계로 디지털카메라를 따라가기 힘들다. 갤럭시S4 줌은 이를 보완해 사진 품질을 한 단계 높인다.
삼성전자는 갤럭시S4에서 카메라 기능 개선에 공을 들였다. 갤럭시S4 줌은 빠르게 움직이는 사물의 연속 동작을 한 장의 사진으로 찍는 `드라마샷`을 비롯해 촬영한 사진에 메모와 위치 정보, 날씨 등 다양한 내용을 담을 수 있는 `스토리 앨범` 기능을 갖췄다.
삼모바일은 기존 갤럭시S4는 옥타코어 애플리케이션 프로세서(AP)를 쓰지만 이 제품은 듀얼코어나 쿼드코어라고 예측했다. 디스플레이는 4.3인치 qHD AM OLED며, 8GB 내장메모리에 블루투스 4.0과 와이파이 등을 지원한다.
