SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics' brand-new smartphone Galaxy S4 obtained the environment-friendly product certification from Europe's best-known safety standard TCO (Tjänstemännens Centralorganisation) on May 16.
A Samsung official said, "Galaxy S4 has become the world's first TCO-certified smartphone. We expect the TCO certification to produce positive influence on the sales of Galaxy S4 as well as to promote the environment friendliness of Galaxy S4 throughout the world."
TCO certificate is a product certification standard given out based on the assessment of usage convenience, safety, and environment friendliness.
Galaxy S4 is free from harmful materials such as antimony trioxide, phthalates, PVC, mercury, and nickel. The battery and phone case of Galaxy S4 also have excellent recyclability.
A month ago, Galaxy S4 had won another environment friendly product certification from a U.S. safety standard organization UL.
