SEOUL, KOREA - A number of events accompanied with WIS 2013 (May 21 to 24) are attracting visitors’ eyes. At ‘ITRC (Information Technology Research Center)’, an event organized by the Ministry of Future Creation and Science, 33 university research institutes are boasting their new technologies on six designated sectors including Network, City, Eco, Human, Smart and Industry IT.
ITRC is a government-supported project that started in 2000 with a goal of nurturing top-level researchers from universities. The event, this time, is going to provide an opportunity for university researchers to show their outstanding technologies and to promote their products.
Ajou University is showing a device and a solution related to Network Centric Warfare (NCW). Network hacking is to be demonstrated as well. Korea University is going to reproduce a malicious code that attacked controlling systems of national backbone facilities. Korea Maritime University is releasing a semiconductor-based fish-luring light, a light system for aquaculture industry and an LED lighting device for civil-requested vessels. Bio-signal-based IT convergence solutions will be introduced by Korea Polytechnic University. Hanyang University is showing a contents-controlling technology with which a user’s eyes could control a Smart TV and a user-motion-recognizing system semiconductor technology. Meanwhile, Sogang University is going to release a portable ultrasound imaging system specialized for emergency situations and on-site diagnosis.
Other than ITRC, there will be a ministerial-level meeting under the theme of ‘Mobile Communication & Economy Development’ to discuss how to enhance international cooperation in the field of broadcasting and communications on May 21. On the same day, major Asian telecommunication companies are going to have a business information session for investors.
From May 21 to 22, an international conference under the theme of ‘RISE (Research, Innovation, Start-Up and Employment)’ will be held for global experts to discuss issues and core subjects of the broadcasting and communication market.

`월드IT쇼(WIS) 2013`(5월 21~24일) 행사 기간 동안 다양한 부대행사가 관람객의 눈길을 끈다. 미래창조과학부가 주최하는 `ITRC(Information Technology Research Center)포럼 2013`에는 네트워크·시티·에코·휴먼·스마트·인더스트리IT 등 6개 그룹별 33개 대학 연구센터가 참여해 신기술을 선보인다.
ITRC 프로젝트는 대학 석·박사급 인적 자원을 활용해 고급 연구인력 양성하는 것을 목적으로, 지난 2000년 정부 지원 하에 시작됐다. 이번 포럼은 각 대학 연구센터의 우수 기술과 연구 결과물에 기술이전 장을 제공하고 연구 성과 활용 촉진을 도모한다.
아주대는 네트워크중심전(NCW) 관련 장비와 솔루션을 전시한다. 가상비행 시뮬레이터 등을 직접 체험하고 아덴만 여명 작전 등 실제 상황에서 활용된 NCW 사례를 3차원(3D) 영상으로 감상할 수 있다.
네트워크 해킹 시연도 이뤄진다. 고려대 스마트그리드보안연구센터는 ITRC에서 국가 주요 기반시설 제어시스템을 공격한 스턱스넷 악성코드를 재현할 계획이다. 스마트폰을 이용한 자동차 해킹도 시연한다.
한국해양대 첨단마린조명연구센터는 △반도체 집어등 △양식용 조명시스템 △민수·함정용 LED 등기구 등을 공개한다. 국내외 선박과 함정, 어선에 적용된 이들 제품은 기존 대비 50~90%의 에너지 절감과 5~10배 늘어난 수명이 특징이다.
생체신호 기반 IT융합 솔루션도 대거 출품된다. 한국산업기술대학교 IT융합재활의료기기연구센터는 하지절단 환자의 능동적 보행을 위한 `지능형 동력 의지 시스템`과 `재활훈련 시스템`을 선보인다.
한양대 멀티미디어시스템 연구센터는 눈으로 스마트TV를 제어하는 콘텐츠 제어 기술을 비롯해 이용자 동작을 인지하는 시스템 반도체 기술을 소개한다. 이용자 친화적 기능의 연구개발 성과물을 시연해 일반인이 멀티미디어 시스템 반도체를 이해하는 기회를 제공할 예정이다.
고부가가치로 꼽히는 IT·의료 융합솔루션도 ITRC 현장에서 만나 볼 수 있다. 서강대 의료용초음파영상연구센터는 응급·현장 진단에 특화된 휴대형 초음파 의료영상 시스템을 전시한다.
21일에는 정보통신·방송장관회의가 열린다. `Mobile Communication & Economy Development`를 주제로, 해외 각국 현황과 정책 방향을 발표하고 방송통신 분야 국제협력 강화방안을 논의한다. 주요 방송사, 통신사, IT업체는 해외 비즈니스를 모색할 수 있는 기회다.
같은 날 아시아 주요 통신사업자를 초청해 일대일 상담기회를 제공하는 `아시아 주요통신사 사업설명회`도 개최된다. 일본, 방글라데시, 인도네시아, 태국 등 9개국에서 12개 통신사와 기관이 참여한다.
21일과 22일 이틀에 걸쳐 미래창조과학 국제 콘퍼런스도 열린다. ` `를 주제로, 글로벌 전문가들이 방송통신 시장 쟁점 사항과 핵심주제를 발표하고 공유하는 시간을 갖는다.
이 밖에도 `스마트 빅데이터 전략 실제 구현 사례 세미나`(23일) 등 세부 주제를 테마로 한 다채로운 부대행사가 마련된다.
