SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and cable TV companies joined hands to invigorate the ultra-high image quality UHD TV business.

Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and cable operators such as CJ HelloVision, T Broad, and C&M, signed an agreement to sell more UHD TVs at the Jeju Haevichi Hotel on May 24 where the Digital Cable TV Show event was held.
Compared to Full HD TVs, the UHD TV offers 4 to 16 times clearer picture quality and better stereo sound. These companies reached an agreement to promote mutual cooperation in the areas of smart TV-using UHD real-time broadcasting, VOD services, and development of cable broadcasting-embedded smart TVs that are free from set-top boxes. They will also cooperate in expanding the popularization of smart TVs and to increase the number of UHD broadcasting subscribers.
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics decided to join hands with the cable industry, based on judgment that cable companies are in a more advantageous position in carrying out UHD TV-based services.
