SEOUL, KOREA - Fusing IT into the society’s welfare: “Korea’s current status and future of IT welfare” with a spring seminar by Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunication Facilities Engineering.

Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunication Facilities Engineering was hosting 2013 Information and Telecommunication Spring Seminar on May 23, 2013, from 13:30 to 18:00 at Co-ex. The theme of the seminar was “Korea’s current status and future of IT welfare.” The widely recognized seminar was organized by KT, Samsung Electronics, Ericsson LG, and SK Telecom, and sponsored by various companies, including Korea IT Times.
With this seminar, the participants were hoping to find many ways for IT field to contribute to the welfare of our society based on any of the precedents. The seminar’s main purpose is to create a synergy by integrating IT technology into our society’s welfare system. The seminar was divided into 2 sessions, the first session containing 3 different seminars from 13:30 to 15:30 and the second session containing 2 seminars from 15:40 to 17:00. The topics of the first three seminars were: “Data Mining Technology with Welfare IT Technology” by a professor from Korea University, Hyung Jung Kim, followed by “ICT Fusion Service for Citizens’ Welfare” and “The Future of Social Security Information for Citizens’ Happiness.” The second session included “Current status and problems of Social Service and Local Social Welfare” and “Efficiency of Delivery System with IT Welfare.”
After the completion of the sessions, Kim Sung Man, the CEO of KT Networks and 6th and 7th President, stepped down from the position and an inauguration of a new 8th president Oh Sung Mok, the executive director of KT Networks, was held.
