SEOUL, KOREA - Cymera, a camera app, passed the 20-million mark in cumulative downloads in 14 months after being released in March 2012. SK Communications announced on May 28 that its camera app Cymera surpassed 20 million in overseas downloads after passing the 10-million level on May 13.
Cymera is expanding its user base toward the United States and Europe from Asian countries, including Taiwan and Thailand. More than 1.5 million people use Cymera per month. The number of monthly users for Cymera is estimated at about 8 million. SK Communications explained that 60 percent of them are foreign users. About 70 percent of the users are female aged between 19 and 24.
Key factors behind the popularity of Cymera include its face recognition technology that allows users to decorate their faces on the photos.
