SEOUL, KOREA - Daelim Industrial said on May 29 in a regulatory filing that it was awarded in early May a project to repair and install sulfur recovery units for the Kuwait National Petroleum Company, the national oil refining company of Kuwait. The 570-billion-won project will be in the form of EPC under which Daelim will be responsible for the whole process from engineering to procurement and construction.
The project will take place in the Mina Ahmadi refinery, 35 kilometers south of Kuwait City. The company must engage in the concurrent job of repairing obsolete units while installing new ones in order to expand the recovery capacity up to 2 million tons a year from current 850,000 tons within three years of time.
Daelim Industrial is currently working on a 1-trillion-won project to build a plant to produce ethane, propane, and butane in Mina Ahmadi while undertaking a 220-billion-won project to install a remote controlling system for gas pipelines in the Port of Shuaiba. Since 2010, Daelim has been aggressive in winning projects in Kuwait.
The length of the construction is 36 months. But the company said the beginning date will be announced soon. The latest contract represents 5.64 percent of Daelim's annual sales revenue.
