ETRI Develops Nanotechnologybased Circuit Design
On December 19, the IT-NT Group of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) announced that it has developed 60 kinds of semiconductor intellectual property (IP) over the past few years starting from 2003. This research has been made with the financial help of the Ministry of Information and Communication under the project name of the Nanotechnology-based Circuit Design Development Project. In this IP development project, LG Electronics, Dongbu Electronics, Magna Chips, and e-MDT have joined together.
This IP is a core technology for next generation mobile terminal. In order to protect this IP and related technologies, ETRI is now making 27 international applications. Kim Jong-dae, chief of ITNT Group, said: "The newly developed IP is required to be jointly standardized in cooperation with related semiconductor companies, while together building a database and retrieval system. Also, to increase its commercialized value, technical assistance including silicon reverification should be given in a timely fashion."
