SEOUL, KOREA – Choongcheongnam Province hosted the USD 4.7 million (about KRW 52 billion) investment from three Japanese companies, including Advantest.
The provincial government of Choongcheongnam announced on the 4th that Governor Heejung Ahn exchanged MOUs with Japanese businesses in Tokyo, Japan, including Isan Industry, Advantest, Murofushi Production Lab and MSC Tech.
According to the investment MOU, Advantest is to build a 660 square meter R&D center in Cheonan, which will develop the new products including memory handler, System-on-Chip handler, device interface and inspection card. The construction of R&D center is to start in July and will be completed in the second half of 2015. Total of USD 7 million is invested and some 40 researchers with the master’s and doctorate degrees are to be hired. Advantest had already completed the construction of its new plant in the 3rd Industrial Complex in Cheonan on the 16th last month.
Isan Industry is to complete the construction of a 6,100 square meter plant by the end of December next year and start its full operation from early 2015. Murofushi Production Lab, working together with Korea Shin-Ei, is investing USD 8.3 million by coming December to build a 9,900 square meter retainer production plant. The retainer is a core part for high-speed, high-load devices that go into high-speed trains and wind-turbines.
Governor Ahn stressed, “the three investors will create 185 jobs, generate KRW 3.2 trillion production effect and replace KRW 1.25 trillion worth imports with localized products in coming 5 years.” He added that the main business areas of the foreign investors, semiconductors, automobiles and display, symbolize the Province’s aim – to incubate the future growth engine industries.

충남도가 일본 아드반테스트 등 3개 기업으로부터 4700만달러(약 520억원) 규모의 투자를 유치했다.
충남도는 4일 안희정 지사가 일본 도쿄 뉴오타니 호텔에서 나카이 류이치 아이산인더스트리 부장, 요시다 요시아키 아드반테스트 상무, 한철희 아드반테스트코리아 사장, 무로후시 수수무 무로후시제작소 사장, 이효성 MSC 테크(무로후시 투자기업) 대표 등과 투자협약(MOU)을 교환했다고 밝혔다.
투자협약에 따르면 아드반테스트는 메모리 핸들러, 시스템온칩(SoC) 핸들러, 장치 인터페이스 및 검사카드 등의 신제품을 연구하는 660㎡ 규모 R&D센터를 천안에 건립한다. 다음 달 착공해 오는 2015년 하반기 완공할 예정이다. 총 700만달러의 사업비를 투입하고 40여명의 석박사급 인력도 채용한다. 앞서 아드반테스트는 지난달 16일 천안3산업단지에 신공장을 준공한 바 있다.
또 아인산인더스트리는 내년 12월말 6100㎡ 규모 공장을 완공해 2015년초부터 양산한다. 무로후시제작소는 코리아신예와 합작해 다음 달부터 오는 12월까지 830만 달러를 투자해 9900㎡ 규모 리테이너 생산 공장을 건립한다. 리테이너는 고속철도와 풍력발전 등에 사용하는 고속•고하중 핵심부품이다.
안 지사는 “이들 3개 기업 유치로 향후 5년간 직접고용 185명, 생산유발 3조2000억원, 수입대체 1조2500억원 등의 경제적 효과가 있을 것”이라며 “특히 이들 3개 기업 투자는 반도체와 자동차, 디스플레이를 적극 육성하려는 도의 정책과 부합해 더욱 의미가 있다”고 밝혔다.
