SEOUL, KOREA – The chance of small UAV by UCONSYSTEM being exported has become quite real.
UCONSYSTEM announced on the 6th that the company hosted a test flight of RemoEye, the small UAV, and on-site technical support event in Bolivia from May 27th to 30th.
Some 20 Bolivian high-ranking officials participated in the event, including the Bolivian president, Evo Morales, and the Air Force Chief of Staff, Walter Montesiano Gerrero.
UCONSYSTEM announced that President Morales suggested the purchase of small UAV at the event and ordered Bolivian businesses to cooperate with UCONSYSTEM to develop their production skills and produce more than 100 UAVs locally.
The experts say Bolivia needs many UAVs for the drug control and border surveillance.
UCONSYSTEM is in the process of negotiating with Bolivian government for the export of USD 190,000 worth UAVs as the first shipment.
Yongwoo Jeon, CEO of UCONSYSTEM commented, “when the export negotiation is finalized, it will be the first case for a Korean-made UAV to be exported. UCONSYSTEM will focus on building greater presence in global markets, starting from Latin Americas.”
유콘시스템 무인기 해외수출 가시화
유콘시스템이 개발한 소형무인기의 해외 수출이 가시화되고 있다.
유콘시스템은 지난 5월 27일부터 30일까지 나흘간 볼리비아에서 소형 무인기 `리모아이` 시험비행과 현장기술지원 행사를 진행했다고 6일 밝혔다.
행사에는 에보 모랄레스 볼리비아 대통령을 비롯해 월터 몬테시아노 게레로 공군참모총장 등 볼리비아 고위 인사 20여명이 참석했다.
모랄레스 대통령은 당시 행사에 참석해 소형무인기 구매를 추진하고, 100대 이상 현지 생산을 위해 유콘시스템과의 협력을 지시했다고 유콘시스템은 밝혔다.
볼리비아는 마약단속 및 국경감시를 위해 다수의 무인항공기가 필요한 실정인 것으로 알려졌다.
현재 1차 물량으로 19만달러 규모의 제품 계약을 추진 중이다.
전용우 사장은 “이번 계약이 성사되면 국내 최초로 국만 무인기를 해외에 수출하는 쾌거를 달성하게 된다”며 “남미를 비롯한 해외 무인기 시장 확대에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
